Men’s volleyball bracketology

With the second half of the regular season underway and the Final Four starting in less than two months, Off the Block will begin to its weekly projected NCAA Tournament bracket.

The men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament is comprised of four teams. Automatic bids are awarded to the winners of the EIVA, MIVA and MPSF conference tournaments, and the NCAA Men’s Volleyball National Committee chooses one team for an at-large bid.

Deeper look at men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament selection criteria

With less than two months until the NCAA Tournament, a deeper look into the volleyball committee’s selection criteria shows it is still a tight race for the at-large bid and tournament seeding.

Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

The biggest weekend of non-conference matches is being overshadowed by a matchup between the top two teams in the nation.

No. 1 UCLA will play host to No. 2 UC Irvine as the Bruins attempt to extend their first-place lead in the MPSF. In addition, No. 7 Lewis looks to rebound from its upset loss against Cal Baptist and closes the Active Ankle Tournament against No. 10 Long Beach State.

My men’s volleyball media poll ballot

Penn State’s climb in the national rankings continues.

The Nittany Lions after winning their 11th consecutive match during the weekend jumped to No. 3 in the new top 10 national media poll released Tuesday afternoon — the highest ranking for a non-West Coast team this season. In addition, UCLA remained No. 1 in the national rankings for the second straight week, while UC Irvine moved up to No. 2 following its victory against No. 4 Stanford.

UC Irvine leaps over Stanford to take No. 1 in RSF rankings

UC Irvine’s road victory against a top-five ranked team during the weekend has catapulted the Anteaters to the top spot in the Off the Block Relative Strength Factor rankings.

UC Irvine two days after defeating No. 2 Stanford jumped up two spots to No. 1 in the new RSF rankings that Off the Block released Monday.

Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

It’s the midway mark of the regular season and several teams are looking to make statement victories tonight.

No. 2 Stanford and No. 3 UC Irvine will play each other in a match that could have ramifications at the end of the season when the selection committee determines the Final Four field. In addition, No. 6 Penn State after a perfect February looks to get a signature victory against its Big Ten brother No. 9 Ohio State.

Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

It’s the start of the second half of the season, and it’s a must-win day for several teams with the conference tournaments looming.

No. 6 BYU will look to stay in the top four of the MPSF standings as it plays host to No. 9 Pepperdine. In addition, Hawai’i will attempt to stay in contention for a spot in the conference tournament as it travels to play No. 5 USC.

It didn’t take UCLA long to reclaim the top spot in the national rankings.

The Bruins received all but one first-place vote and following a one-week abscence moved back to No. 1 in the new national media poll released Tuesday.

Voting now open for Off the Block Fan Choice Player of the Month

Off the Block selected the 10 finalists, and now it is up to the fans to determine who should win the Off the Block Fan Choice Player of the Month for February.

The Player of the Month award recognizes the best individual performances from NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball players during the month and gives volleyball fans from around the world the chance to determine who was the best player.
