Springfield dominates New Paltz to claim 2018 Morgan Classic championship

Outside attacker Sergio Figueroa Velez raised his level of play in the championship match at one of college men’s volleyball’s most historic non-conference tournaments.

Velez had both a match-high 12 kills on a .733 attack percentage and five blocks as No. 1 Springfield swept No. 14 SUNY New Paltz 25-19, 25-10, 25-22 in the Volleyball Hall of Fame Morgan Classic Finals on Saturday in Springfield, Massachusetts. Springfield’s Irizarry Pares named 2017 Division III National Libero of Year

Springfield’s Vega in landslide vote named D3 National Outside Attacker of Year

Springfield outside attacker Luis Vega did more than get selected as top Division III men’s volleyball player at his position — he won the national award unanimously.

Off the Block announced Monday that Vega received every first-place vote from a nationwide voting committee to be named the 2017 Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Springfield ends Hunter season, advances to NCAA Tournament semifinals

Springfield, Massachusetts — The Springfield College Pride and the Hunter Hawks first faced off on March 4. In the midst of an incredible win streak for the Pride, they took down the Hawks 3-0.
