It was only fitting in a season when Erskine seemingly came out of nowhere to get into first place, the team was nowhere near the court when it won the program’s first regular season championship.

Erskine on an off-day clinched the Conference Carolinas regular season championship thanks to Barton upsetting second-place Mount Olive on Wednesday in Wilson, N.C.

USC, Erskine players named Springbak, Inc. Co-National Freshmen of the Week

Two freshmen who led their teams to upset victories during the weekend have now earned a share of a college men’s volleyball national weekly award.

Off the Block announced Monday that Erskine outside attacker Roberto Perez Vargas and USC outside attacker Lucas Yoder were selected as the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Co-National Freshmen of the Week.

Erskine shocks Cal Baptist to get Conference Carolinas its first win vs. MPSF

So much for the Conference Carolinas not being able to compete with any teams from the powerhouse MPSF.

Freshman outside attacker Roberto Perez Vargas had a match-high 20 kills as Erskine beat Cal Baptist 15-25, 26-24, 18-25, 25-15, 19-17 on Saturday in Riverside, Calif., to become the first Conference Carolinas school to beat a team from the MPSF. Top 5 college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

From rivalry matches to big non-conference and conference showdowns, this slate of matches features everything needed for a big night of college men’s volleyball.

No. 2 Long Beach State and Penn State will both look to improve its NCAA Tournament resume for the selection committee as they play each other in one of the biggest non-conference matches of the season. In addition, No. 7 Stanford will attempt to continue its second-half surge up the MPSF standings as it concludes its weekend series against No. 10 Hawai’i.
