NCAA Tournament Projections: Team comparisons using selection committee criteria

The postseason is here, but there is still a lot left to be decided in the race for the at-large bids and seeding for the NCAA Tournament.

2014 Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Freshmen All-American Team released

A nationwide voting committee selected nine players to the inaugural Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Freshmen All-American Team.

The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Freshmen All-American Team honors the top NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball freshmen players from the regular season. It is also the only Freshmen All-American Team presented in college men’s volleyball.

Video: Reaction to Erskine, Mount Olive reaching Conference Carolinas title match

Erskine and Mount Olive are each now one win away from becoming the first Conference Carolinas team reach the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 1 seed Erskine and the No. 3 seed Mount Olive won their conference tournament semifinal matches on Saturday to advance to the Conference Carolinas championship match. The winner of that title match will receive the conference’s automatic bid to the six-team NCAA Tournament in Chicago.

Conference tournament semifinal matches to follow tonight

The postseason resumes this evening with four teams still in contention for the Conference Carolinas’ first automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 1 seed Erskine after winning the conference regular season title will play host to No. 5 Barton in its Conference Carolinas Tournament semifinals match. In addition, the No. 2 seed Pfeiffer and the No. 3 seed Mount Olive will face each other in the other semifinal.

Harvard, Erskine players named Springbak, Inc. Co-National Freshmen of the Week

Two freshmen who helped lead their teams to postseason berths are now earning a share of a national weekly award.

Off the Block announced Monday that Harvard setter Nick Bendell and Erskine outside attacker Roberto Perez Vargas were named the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Co-National Freshmen of the Week.
