Tokyo Bound: United States overpowers Netherlands to clinch berth to 2020 Olympics

On the biggest of stages opposite Matt Anderson once again delivered for the United States.

The former Penn State All-American and two-time Olympian had a team-high 16 kills as the United States defeated the Netherlands 25-18, 25-20, 17-25, 25-21 on Sunday to clinch a berth to the 2020 Olympics. Russell powers U.S. past Belgium in Olympic qualification opener

Outside attacker Aaron Russell had his bounce-back performance following the FIVB Volleyball Nations League Finals.

Russell during the opening day of Olympic qualification finished with a both a match-high 16 kills and three blocks as the United States defeated Belgium 25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 25-18 on Friday in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Olympic qualification men’s volleyball matches to follow today

Six berths to the 2020 Olympic men’s volleyball tournament will be at stake this weekend.

The FIVB’s new Olympic qualification system will feature six pools that are each comprised of four teams. The team with the best record in every pool following a three-match round robin will clinch six of the 11 remaining berths to the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo.

Puerto Rico knocks off United States to earn fifth-place finish at Pan Am Games

Puerto Rico will end the Pan American Games with a top-five finish thanks in part to one of the youngest players on its roster.

Purdue Fort Wayne outside attacker Pelegrin Vargas had nine kills on a 47.37 percent offensive efficiency as Puerto Rico defeated the United States 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 20-25, 15-8 in the tournament’s fifth-place match on Saturday in Lima, Peru.
