Outside attacker Taylor Crabb had a team-high 21 kills as No. 3 Long Beach State defeated No. 2 BYU 25-21, 25-16, 25-27, 26-24 on Friday in Long Beach, Calif.

Long Beach State with this win is now on a conference-best five-match winning streak. The team also remains in sole possession of second place and moves within two matches of first-place BYU for the lead in the MPSF.

UC Irvine associate AD added to NCAA Tourney selection committee

The deputy athletics director from UC Irvine will join the committee that determines the field for the men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament.

UC Irvine senior associate athletics director Paula Smith was selected as the West Coast representative for the three-person NCAA men’s volleyball committee.

Grand Canyon expands recruiting base with newest class

A current member of the Israeli Men’s National Team and a former high school sand volleyball state champion are among the newest commitments for Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon coach Jeremy Price announced earlier this week that Michael Milstein along with high school seniors Kevin Dodsworth, Skylan Eengleman, Blake Gorman, Josh Phalen and Luke Turner have all signed national letters of intent to join the Antelopes.

UCLA lands two top 25 nationally ranked recruits

Two of the top 25 nationally ranked high school prospects have committed to UCLA beginning in 2015.

UCLA coach John Speraw announced Tuesday that high school seniors and Volleyball Magazine Top 25 Players to Watch selections Jason Arnitz and John Hessenauer along with Eric Matheis have all signed national letters of intent to play for the Bruins.

Two Pacific players to transfer to Ohio State for 2015 season

Two current members of the soon-to-be dissolved Pacific men’s volleyball team will transfer to Ohio State following the 2014 season.

Ohio State coach Pete Hanson announced during the weekend that Pacific outside attacker Peter Edwards and setter Marco Grasso will join the Buckeyes roster beginning in 2015.

Committee receives 21 bids to host future men’s volleyball NCAA Tournaments

The bids are officially all in from schools vying to host the men’s volleyball Division I-II NCAA Tournament in upcoming years.

NCAA officials informed Off the Block via email Tuesday that 21 bids were submitted to the league office requesting the right to host a college men’s volleyball national championship during the next five years.

Ball State may have case to get at-large bid to NCAA Tournament

If Ball State can’t win the MIVA Tournament, it may have a case to earn the lone at-large bid to the men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament.
