2012 Off the Block Preseason All-American Teams released

A nationwide voting committee selected 21 players to the Off the Block Preseason All-American Teams.

The Off the Block Preseason All-American Teams recognizes the Division I-II men’s volleyball players projected to be the best in the nation during the upcoming season. Ten players were selected as Preseason First-Team All-Americans and 11 players were named Preseason Second-Team All-Americans.

St. Francis looks to add height with new recruiting class

A high school all-section player and a former member of a United States national youth team who are both taller than 6-foot-4-inches have committed to play at St. Francis

St. Francis announced Wednesday that high school seniors Michael Marshman and Drew Grehan have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Red Flash beginning in the 2013 season.

Former NCAA Tourney director selected to IPFW Hall of Fame

The person who oversaw one of the highest attended men’s volleyball NCAA Tournaments will be inducted into his school’s hall of fame.

IPFW announced Wednesday that Dan Gebhart, a former associate athletic director for operations and Mastodons men’s basketball player, was selected for the IPFW Athletics Hall of Fame.

Thanksgiving 2011: 11 things to be thankful about in college volleyball

It is the week of giving thanks and college men’s volleyball followers and fans can be thankful about plenty of things in the sport.

Whether it is a playoff format to determine a champion or the individuals returning for the upcoming season, there are many good things happening in the sport right now. It’s now time to give thanks to some of those things in college men’s volleyball.

Loyola hires former All-MIVA player Berzins as assistant coach

A former all-conference outside attacker will return to Loyola to be on the team’s coaching staff.

The Ramblers athletics department announced Tuesday that they hired Kris Berzins to be an assistant coach for the upcoming season.

Berzins played for Loyola from 2007-2010 and was a three-time all-conference selection, including making the First-Team All-MIVA as a junior and senior. The outside attacker during his senior season was also named the school’s Male Athlete of the Year as Loyola advanced to the conference tournament championship match.

Pacific goes nationwide for players in new recruiting class

Pacific added players from Illinois and Florida in its newest recruiting class to continue its trend of signing players from around the country.

Pacific announced Thursday that high school seniors Martin Ross and Christian Franceschi have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Tigers for the 2013 season.

BYU signs top national recruit, players with international experience

Three players who represented to the United States in international tournaments were among players to commit to BYU.

BYU announced Friday that high school seniors Bennett Bird, Evan Chang, Joseph Grosh and Benjamin Patch have each signed a National Letter Intent to play for the Cougars beginning in the 2013 season.
