ESPN, NCAA reach TV deal that includes men’s volleyball Final Four

The men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament will air on the ESPN network for the foreseeable future.

The NCAA and ESPN announced Thursday that they have reached an agreement giving the network broadcasting rights to 24 NCAA championships, including men’s volleyball, through the 2023-24 school year.

NCAA temporarily suspends new student-athlete stipend program

The NCAA has suspended its new initiative that would allow student-athletes to receive additional financial benefits from the school.

The NCAA announced Thursday that it has temporarily shelved its new policy that gave schools the option to give full-ride scholarship student-athletes up to a $2,000 stipend for cost-of-living expanses.

Loyola promotes former high school All-American to starting setter

A year after graduating one of its top setters in program history, Loyola will start a former high school All-American at setter for the upcoming season.

Loyola coach Shane Davis said Wednesday that junior Matt Mirick will be the Ramblers’ starting setter when the team opens its season in January.

EIVA issues statement of support for Penn State men’s volleyball

With the Penn State football team and university in the midst of a sexual-abuse scandal, the EIVA is fully supporting the Nittany Lions men’s volleyball team.

EIVA commissioner Ivan Marque issued a statement Monday that praised the Penn State men’s volleyball team and its head coach Mark Pavlik for the program’s quality, accountability and integrity.

Belmont Abbey adds volleyball, first D-II team to hire female coach

The newly created Belmont Abbey College team will be the first Division I-II men’s volleyball program to have a female as its head coach.

Belmont Abbey announced Monday that it would add men’s volleyball as a varsity sport starting in 2013 and introduced Mary DeJute as the team’s head coach.
