The top-two indoor men’s volleyball teams in each of the three pools at the end of the pool-play stage will advance to the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament. The two-best third-place teams in the three pools also will qualify for the quarterfinals. The pool champions will top three seeds for the quarterfinals, the second-place finishers will be the No. 3 through No. 6 seeds and the third-place finishers will be the No. 7 through No. 8 seeds. In the event that two or more teams with the same pool ranking have the same records at the end of the pool-play stage, the tiebreakers will be match points, then set win-loss record, then point differential, then head-to-head results if they played each other in this tournament and then FIVB world ranking..
