The crowning of the national champion is moving to a new day of the week.

The NCAA announced Monday that the men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament finals will now annually be played on a Monday starting next season.

The finals traditionally had been played on the first Saturday of May. The scheduling change will move the championship match to the Monday following the second Friday of May.

There will continue the same amount of time off – one day – between the quarterfinals and semifinals and the semifinals and finals. The tournament to adjust for the new finals date will move the quarterfinals from Tuesday to Thursday and the semifinals from Thursday to Saturday.

These changes will result in no other collegiate volleyball event taking place at the same time as the men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament. The beach volleyball NCAA Tournament will continue to be played during the first weekend in May.

The men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament being pushed back one week will also extend the deadline by a week for conferences to determine their automatic bids.

The completion date for all conference tournaments and automatic bid selections in 2025 will be Saturday, April 26. The selection show will take place the following day on Sunday, April 27.

Ohio State will be the host site of the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals, semifinals and finals with the matches slated to take place at the Covelli Center.
