Freshman season-best powers Emmanuel past Fort Valley State

Middle attacker Arturo Diaz-Dube saved their best performance of the season for an in-state rival.

Diaz-Dube finished with 10 kills and one error on a season-high .818 attack percentage as Emmanuel swept Fort Valley State 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 on Tuesday in Franklin Springs, Georgia.

Diaz-Dube led all players in the third game with five kills, including having the match-winning kill to secure the non-conference sweep. The freshman with the second game tied at 20-20 also had a kill to jumpstart a 5-2 run that closed out the game.

Setter Abdallah Roshdy guided the Emmanuel offense to out-hit Fort Valley State .345 to .057.

Along with Diaz-Dube, outside attacker Eli Zdonek ended with a match-high 12 kills. Both Aiden Feeney and Lucas Nieves added eight kills against Fort Valley State (3-4, 0-0 SIAC).

Emmanuel (2-8, 0-2 ConfCarolinas) limited Fort Valley State to a negative attack percentage in the first game and a .038 attack percentage in the final game.

Middle attacker Greg Bodus led Emmanuel with five blocks, while Zdonek and Feeney each contributed two blocks.

Despite the loss, Fort Valley State out-blocked Emmanuel 9 to 7.5 with middle attacker Raheem Thomas having a match-high five blocks.
