What to know: First place in the ConfCarolinas is on the line as Belmont Abbey plays host to North Greenville. Both teams, which have combined to win two of the last three ConfCarolinas championships, enter the near halfway point of the conference regular season tied for first place and have a one-match lead on third-place Erskine and Mount Olive. Belmont Abbey is on a five-match winning streak since losing a road match to North Greenville in its conference opener. Middle attacker Jibriel Elhaddad is second in the nation with a 1.49 blocks per game average, including having a match-high 10 blocks in a four-game victory against Lees-McRae on Saturday. The sophomore also is in the nation’s top 20 with a .345 attack percentage and has more than a .400 attack percentage in three of the last five matches. Elhaddad is one of the two national leaders in attack percentage competing in this match. North Greenville middle attacker Michael de la Cruz leads the ConfCarolinas and is sixth in the nation hitting .419. North Greenville was undefeated in conference play before suffering a three-game road loss to King during the weekend. The Crusaders in the loss were without both de la Cruz and outside attacker Diego Rosich. Rosich is third in the ConfCarolinas with 3.32 kills per game average but has missed the last two matches.
