A three-time all-conference middle attacker is coming to Pepperdine.
Pepperdine announced on social media recently that Martin de Chavarria will join the team as a graduate transfer for the 2024 season.
de Chavarria in four seasons at NJIT was a Second-Team All-EIVA selection for three consecutive seasons and accumulated 295 career blocks along with a .415 career attack percentage. The middle attacker also finished last season in the conference’s top five with both a .390 attack percentage and a 0.96 blocks per game average as NJIT advanced to the EIVA Tournament semifinals.
Along with playing for the Highlanders, de Chavarria spent last offseason playing with the Spanish Men’s National Team.
Pepperdine under first-year head coach Jonathan Winder ended last season in fifth place in the MPSF and reached the conference tournament quarterfinals.
