Lees-McRae increased its pin-hitter depth through the transfer portal.
The Bobcats announced on social media that outside attacker Abdirahman Ahmen transferred from Central State and will join Lees-McRae for the upcoming season.
Ahmen as a freshman appeared in 13 matches for Central State last season and had at least five kills in three matches, including five kills and a season-high .625 attack against Lincoln Memorial. The Minnesota native also contributed two aces in a regular season conference victory against Benedict as Central State finished the SIAC in second place.
Lees-McRae under first-year head coach Sam Albus ended last season in fifth place and qualified for the ConfCarolinas Tournament.
Albus was named the ConfCarolinas Coach of the Year and guided the Bobcats to their most wins since 2014.
