Second-year program Morehouse hires new head coach

Morehouse will have a new head coach for the program’s second season.

Athletics director Curtis Campbell announced that Ashley Johnson will serve the men’s volleyball team’s head coach.

Johnson while coaching the Maroon Tigers will remain the head coach of the Clark Atlanta University women’s volleyball team.The NCAA Division II school under Johnson had a winning record in 2021 and finished in fourth place in the SIAC.

Johnson during her college playing career was a middle attacker at IUPUI from 2006-09 and finished second in school history with 328 career blocks.

“I’m excited to have coach Johnson join our staff. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the game of volleyball to our program,” Campbell said in a statement.

The Maroon Tigers formally named Johnson as their new head coach during the sumer following the team going winless in its inaugural season. Morehouse did not win a set in 2022 and ended the season with a negative-.086 attack percentage.
