UC San Diego is moving up the national rankings after beating the defending NCAA champions.

The Tritons jumped two spots to No. 8 in the latest Off the Block National Media Poll that was released Tuesday.

UC San Diego split a two-match series against Hawai’i last week, including a five-game win in the series opener. The Rainbow Warriors after the series split to open their conference season dropped three spots to No. 6 in the new poll.

The National Media Poll is the only rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in the National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.

A new national media poll is released every Tuesday during the regular season on Off the Block’s website.
