Having won their last five matches, Daemen is the new No. 6 team in the latest Division II coaches poll released on Wednesday afternoon.
The Wildcats are led by graduate student Robert Patzer who has started both at opposite and setter this season. Daemen is No. 2 nationally with 2.4 aces per game, led by junior outside attacker Zach Schneider who has 0.667 aces per game.
Also moving up in this week’s poll is Charleston who is now No. 9, having swept both matches versus Fort Valley State this past weekend.
Lewis retained it’s tight grip on the top spot, garnering all 12 first place votes.
The focus for Division II this weekend will be in the MIVA where all four Division II teams will take on each other, starting tonight with No. 10 Quincy hosting No. 4 McKendree. McKendree will also travel to No. 8 Lindenwood, while Lewis will travel to both Lindenwood and McKendree as well.
Both NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II men’s volleyball programs compete for the same national championship. The AVCA National Coaches Poll ranks the top 15 Division I-II men’s volleyball teams and is released each Monday during the regular season.
A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 25 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.
The Division II National Coaches Poll will be released on the Off the Block website every Wednesday during the regular season.
