What to know: What was once a MIVA matchup will be renewed as a non-conference matchup as No. 8/10 Grand Canyon visits No. 6/6 Lewis in an important match for two teams with contrasting styles riding high into the matchup. Grand Canyon finally returned outside attacker Christian Janke, who missed six matches with an injury, as they swept Loyola on the road. Grand Canyon is led by three headed monster on the pins of Janke, Camden Gianni, and Hugo Fischer. All three racked up double digits kills in their win against Loyola. The ‘Lopes enter the match with Lewis having won their previous four matches. On the other side of the net will be the Lewis Flyers who recently collected one of the most impressive victories of the young season, sweeping then No. 2/2 UCLA on the road. Lewis brings a completely different approach into this match, led by middle attacker Tyler Mitchem. Mitchem was recently named an Off the Block All-American for the month of January. Kevin Kauling leads the offense from the setting position, and recently got his first opportunity to swing as Lewis pulled out the 6-2 offense against UCLA. The 6’8” Kauling collected eight kills while attacking at a .429 efficiency in his first match hitting and setting.
