What to know: No. 9/9 Ohio State will travel across the country to try to slow down one of the top offenses in the nation. No. 3/3 Long Beach State enters its home non-conference tournament undefeated and third in the nation with a .417 attack percentage. The Beach has hit at least .300 in all four matches to start the season, including a season-high .515 attack percentage in a sweep against No. 11 Loyola on Saturday. In addition, pin-hitters Clarke Godbold and Alex Nikolov are both in the nation’s top 15 averaging more than 3.60 kills per game. Both Godblod and Nikolov had double-digits and hit more than .300 in the Beach’s road wins against Loyola and No. 7/8 Lewis last weekend. The Buckeyes opened the season winning four of their first five matches, despite being without Preseason All-American outside attacker Sotiris Siapanis because of an injury. Ohio State returns to the West Coast after holding No. 10/7 USC to a season-low .183 attack percentage in a four-game victory on Saturday. Opposite Jacob Pasteur also is in the nation’s top 20 with a 3.50 kills per game average.
