What to know: No. 4/4 Penn State will have a chance to make it four consecutive victories against top-10 ranked teams to open the season as it will play No. 6/6 Grand Canyon in the finale of a two-match series. The Nittany Lions in the series-opening sweep hit .463, including having more than .500 attack percentage in each of the first two games. Preseason All-American setter Cole Bogner has guided the defending EIVA champions to a .411 attack in its first three matches. Outside attacker Brett Wildman also is third in the EIVA averaging 3.67 kills per game and has back-to-back matches with double-digit kills. The Preseason All-American had a team-high 14 kills on a .684 attack percentage in the series opener against the Antelopes. Outside attacker Camden Gianni in the loss led Grand Canyon with 12 kills while hitting .524 and added two aces. Grand Canyon was without outside attacker Christian Janke who suffered an injury last week. Janke tied a career high with 21 kills in a season-opening win against No. 14 McKendree. This will be the Antelopes’ third match in a three-day span. Grand Canyon on the off-day between matches against Penn State traveled to Juniata for an exhibition match and swept the NCAA Division III school on Friday. Grand Canyon coach Matt Werle was a four-time All-American at Juniata and will be inducted into the school’s hall of fame later this year.
