Lewis will have even more depth at the pins thanks to the transfer of one of St. Francis Brooklyn’s top offensive players.
The Flyers as part of unveiling its 2022 roster announced that opposite Christian Prayer will join the team for the upcoming season.
Prayer as a freshman finished last season led St. Francis Brooklyn 2.92 kills per game average. The 6-foot-4 opposite had double-digit kills in two of St. Francis Brooklyn’s six matches during the abbreviated season, including a match-high 18 kills in a victory against Sacred Heart.
Prayer returns to the Midwest after being a two-time all-conference selection with his high school team in Missouri. He also set the school’s single-season record for kills and was in the state’s top five for kills as both a junior and senior.
Lewis ended last season winning its second consecutive MIVA championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament semifinals. In addition, All-American middle attacker Tyler Mitchem returns for a graduate season after ending 2021 in the nation’s top five with both a .490 attack percentage and a 1.30 blocks per game average.
The Flyers, though, will have to replace multiple starters including All-American outside attacker Ryan Coenen who was named the MIVA Player of the Year.
