Olympics Players of the Day
United States — Opposite Matt Anderson finished with both a match-high 20 kills on .500 attack percentage and 11 digs in a four-game loss to Brazil.
Argentina — Opposite Bruno Lima had a match-high 25 kills on a .487 attack percentage as Argentina rallied from a two-game deficit to beat Tunisia in five games.
Brazil — Outside attacker Ricardo Lucarelli Souza had a match-high four aces and led Brazil with 15 kills while hitting .429 in a four-game victory against the United States.
Canada — Outside attacker Timothy Stephen Maar had 10 kills on a .563 attack percentage and added three blocks and two aces in a sweep against Venezuela.
France — Opposite Jean Party finished with a match-high 17 kills on a .429 attack percentage in a four-game victory against Russia.
Iran — Opposite Saber Kazemi had 10 kills on a .450 attack percentage and a team-high two aces in a four-game loss to Italy.
Italy — Outside attacker Osmany Juantorena had a match-high 18 killson a .531 attack percentage in a four-game victory against Iran.
Japan — Outside attacker Yuki Ishikawa had a team-high 13 kills and added two blocks in a three-game loss to Poland.
Poland — Outside attacker Wilfredo Leon had both a match-high 13 kills and two aces as Poland swept Japan.
Russia — Opposite Maxim Mikhaylov had both a team-high 10 kills and three aces in a four-game loss to France.
Tunisia — Opposite Wassim Ben Tara had a team-high 20 kills as Tunisia nearly upset Argentina before losing in five games.
Venezuela — Middle attacker Edson Alberto Valencia Gonzalez had five kills and zero errors on a .833 attack percentage and added a block in a three-game loss to Canada.
