Caitlin Bullock one year after taking over the Lees-McRae men’s volleyball team is moving on to a NCAA Division I team.
Appalachian State announced Wednesday that Bullock will depart Lees-McRae to be an assistant coach for the Mountaineers women’s volleyball team.
“I am beyond thrilled and thankful for this opportunity to work with this amazing program,” Bullock said in a statement. “This program has so much potential for success and these student-athletes are difference makers. The future is bright and I couldn’t be more excited.”
Bullock guided Lees-McRae last season to a regular season upset against the eventual ConfCarolinas champion Belmont Abbey. She also simultaneously in 2021 served as the head coach of the Lees-McRae women’s volleyball team and led the Bobcats to a winning record.
Bullock was named the Lees-McRae women’s volleyball head coach in 2018. The former All-ConfCarolinas player was tabbed as the interim head coach of the men’s volleyball program midway through the 2020 season and was elevated to be the permanent head coach at the end of the abbreviated season.
Along with her head coaching experience at Lees-McRae, Bullock as an assistant coach helped King win the 2018 ConfCarolinas championship and reach the NCAA Tournament.
Appalachian State concluded the 2020-21 season at 1-15 and lost in the opening round of the Sun Belt Tournament.
