The upcoming NCAA Tournament will have plenty of All-Americans on the court.

All but one of the 20 players selected to the AVCA All-American Teams that was unveiled Monday morning are among six of the teams competing in the NCAA Tournament this week.

Hawai’i, the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament, had three First-Team All-American selections and four players earn All-American honors. UC Santa Barbara also finished tied with Hawai’i for the most All-American selections at four players.

Both Hawai’i and BYU, the No. 2 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament, led all schools each having three First-Team All-American selections.

Along with these schools, Lewis and Penn State each had three players named All-Americans, while Pepperdine finished with two All-Americans.

NJIT outside attacker Alvaro Gimeno was the only player from a team not making the NCAA Tournament to earn All-American honors.

This latest All-American class also produced a first in college men’s volleyball history. Outside attacker Ryan Coenen, who returned to Lewis in 2021 after being granted an additional year of eligibility because of the shortened 2020 season, became the first five-time All-American in the history of the sport.

The voting committee of 11 NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball head coaches determined the All-American Teams.
