Make way for undefeated Daemen in the RPI.
The third-year independent program from New York climbed six spots to No. 4 in the latest RPI rankings that the NCAA released on Monday.
The Wildcats concluded their abbreviated regular seasons at 10-0 but were limited with their options scheduling opponent because of the coronavirus pandemic. Daemen culminated its undefeated season sweeping a two-match road series against St. Francis Brooklyn last week.
A team’s RPI ranking is calculated using a mathematical formula that includes its winning percentage, strength of schedule and opponents’ strength of schedule. The RPI also is one of the criteria categories the selection committee uses to determine the NCAA Tournament field.
Hawai’i, Lewis and BYU all remain unchanged atop the new RPI rankings for the second consecutive week.
An updated RPI rankings will be released each Monday throughout the regular season and conference tournaments. The final RPI rankings before the seven-team NCAA Tournament will be unveiled on Selection Sunday.
