Lewis is the new No. 1 of the Division II coaches poll as they avenged an earlier loss to No. 2 McKendree on Friday night in Lebanon in three games. Setter Kevin Kauling, who was named National Setter of the Week on Monday, quarterbacked the Flyers to a .321 attack percentage, while outside attacker Ryan Coenen led all players with 20 kills.
Lewis captured 7 of the 9 first place votes, while McKendree received the other two first place votes. The Flyers are within one match of the Bearcats at the top of the MIVA standings at
The biggest mover in this week’s poll is No. 4 Lindenwood, who moved up three spots after defeating No. 8 Quincy in four games on Friday night. The Lions hit a season-best .410 and were led by outside attacker Diego Negron’s career-high 24 kills.
No. 10 Queens moves into the top ten for the first time in 2021. The Royals have one six of the last seven matches, after starting the season 1-6. Queens middle attacker JP Payne was named Independent Player of the Week after hitting north of .500 in three straight matches.
Both NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II men’s volleyball programs compete for the same national championship. The AVCA National Coaches Poll ranks the top 15 Division I-II men’s volleyball teams and is released each Monday during the regular season.
A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 15 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.
The Division II National Coaches Poll will be released on the Off the Block website every Tuesday during the regular season.
