What to know: Even when there are no fans in the stands, No. 1/1 Hawai’i is still difficult to beat on its home court. Undefeated Hawai’i and No. 12 UC San Diego will conclude their two-match conference series after the Rainbow Warriors won the series opener in four games. The Rainbow Warriors out-hit the Tritons .314 to .170, including limiting UC San Diego to a negative-.091 attack percentage in the final game to secure its eighth straight win. Three Rainbow Warriors had double-digit kills with All-American opposite Rado Parapunov leading all players with 17 kills on a .324 attack percentage. Parapunov, who entered the weekend fifth in the nation averaging 4.39 kills per game. now has at least 15 kills in four consecutive matches. Along with Parapunov, outside attacker Chaz Galloway had 13 kills on a .417 attack percentage and outside attacker Colton Cowell added 14 kills while hitting .346. Outside attacker Kyle McCauley in the loss had a match-high 17 kills but was the only UC San Diego player to have more than 10 kills. This was the third victory for Hawai’i against UC San Diego this season. The Rainbow Warriors Warriors swept a non-conference two-match series last month as part of a season-opening road trip.
No. 5/5 Pepperdine (9-5, 9-5 MPSF) vs. No. 9/9 Grand Canyon (4-6, 4-6 MPSF)

What to know: Outside attacker Camden Gianni and No. 9/9 Grand Canyon will attempt to bounce back as it continues its three-match conference series against No. 5/5 Pepperdine. Gianni was limited to a season-low eight kills on a .080 attack percentage in a three-game series-opening loss to the Waves on Friday. The all-conference outside attacker entered the series fourth in the country with a 4.40 kills per game average and with a nation-best 0.88 aces per game average. Setter Brycie Dvorak in the series-opening sweep guided the Waves offense to a .375 attack percentage, including hitting .542 in the second game. Opposite Jacob Steele had a team-high 12 kills on a .588 attack percentage, while outside attacker Spencer Wickens also had 12 kills on a .474 attack percentage.

What to know: Ball State will need to quickly find an answer on how to slow down opposite Luke Denton. No. 14 Loyola and Ball State will conclude their two-match series one day after Denton had both a team-high 11 kills on a .529 attack percentage and five blocks in a series-opening sweep. Denton is hitting a career-high .305 this season and has 12 consecutive matches with double-digit kills. In addition, Denton has at least 20 kills in two matches during the Ramblers’ four-match winning streak. All-MIVA setter Garrett Zolg guided the Loyola offense to out-hit Ball State .385 to .259, including having a match-best .550 attack percentage in the final game of the sweep. Outside attacker Kaleb Jenness had a match-high 13 kills but was the only Cardinal to have double-digit kills in the loss. Jenness entered the weekend in the nation’s top 15 with a 3.93 kills per game average. With a loss tonight, Ball State will be eliminated from the race from the MIVA regular season championship.

Mount St. Joseph player to watch: Outside attacker Jason Hascher is fourth in the nation with a 4.79 kills per game average and is in the nation’s top 15 hitting .406.
Quick breakdown: First place and possibly the No. 1 seed for the upcoming MCVL Tournament will be on the line as Fontbonne travels to play Mount St. Joseph in the two-match series. Fontbonne is undefeated in conference play and has dropped one set during its current nine-match winning streak. The Griffins are also fifth in the nation with a .331 attack percentage and have hit more than .300 in each of the last seven matches. Mount St. Joseph since a season-opening conference loss has lost one set and is on an 11-match winning streak.
