No. 2 McKendree swaps spots with No. 3 Lindenwood after sweeping both contests this past weekend on the road. The Bearcats are tops in the nation with a 3.722 blocks per game average, and are led individually by Lucas Galifos who leads the nationally with 1.889 blocks per game. That strong block has led McKendree to rank second nationally with a .114 opponent attack percentage.
The Bearcats host Ohio State on Friday and Saturday nights, the same days that head coach Nickie Sanlin and her staff coach a pair of women’s volleyball matches.
No. 1 Lewis maintained their stranglehold on the top spot in the poll, receiving all 12 first place votes, despite splitting their series at Ohio State this past weekend. Once again, Tyler Mitchem was named Off the Block National Middle Attacker of Week yesterday on the strength of 21 kills on a . 588 attack percentage to go with 13 blocks.
Barton and Mount Olive also swapped spots so the now the preseason ConfCarolinas pick to win the conference is now ranked No. 7 in the poll.
Both NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II men’s volleyball programs compete for the same national championship. The AVCA National Coaches Poll ranks the top 15 Division I-II men’s volleyball teams and is released each Monday during the regular season.
A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 15 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.
The Division II National Coaches Poll will be released on the Off the Block website every Tuesday during the regular season.
