Two members of the UCLA men’s volleyball team have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The UCLA athletics department announced during the weekend as part of its weekly coronavirus reporting that both men’s volleyball members were among six individuals within the department to test positive.
UCLA since June has conducted almost 11,000 tests on student-athletics, coaches and support staff with a combined 24 tests returning as positive. Along with the men’s volleyball team, the women’s beach volleyball team had two individuals test positive and the women’s volleyball team had a positive test.
The names of individuals who test positive are not released in the weekly coronavirus report to protect their privacy.
The school requires anyone who tests positive to immediately enter isolation for 10 days. Individuals in close contact with the person who tested positive are also required to be quarantined for 14 days.
UCLA two seasons removed from reaching the men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament finals finished the shortened 2020 season at No. 9 in both the national coaches poll and national media poll.
Isolation for 10 years seems a bit harsh….
Whoops, typo on our end. Story is updated.
