No. 4/4 Long Beach State improved to 9-1 on the season after defeating No. 12 UCLA in five games on Saturday evening in Los Angeles, California. This was a rematch of a match earlier this month where the Bruins won in four games.
Long Beach State statistically dominated UCLA in most areas of the final box score, including out-blocking them 13.5 to 7, and out-hitting them .417 to .250. Beach outside attacker Ethan Siegfried led all players with 15 kills, including a fourth game where he had eight kills on nine errorless-attempts. Long Beach State middle attacker Shane Holdaway chipped in with nine kills and seven blocks.
The Bruins out-served the Beach, 11 aces to three,. Setter/outside attacker Mads Kyed Jensen led all players with five aces, including three to start the second game. UCLA got 14 kills from Kyed Jensen and 13 kills from middle attacker Daenan Gyimah.
