What to know: Preseason All-American outside attacker Ryan Coenen going up against another top-10 nationally ranked team will try to bounce back from his most recent offensive performance. Coenen and No. 6/7 Lewis will travel to No. 8/8 UC Irvine days after the senior was held to seven kills and a negative-.121 attack percentage in a four-game loss to No. 3/2 BYU. Coenen, a three-time All-American and a member of the Off the Block All-Decade Team, finished last season among the national leaders with a 3.25 kills per game average en route to leading the Flyers to the NCAA Tournament semifinals. However, UC Irvine in its 2019 early-season victory versus the Lewis limited Coenen to 11 kills and a zero attack percentage. The Anteaters enter this home match following an 11-day layoff since the team swept No. 10 Princeton in the college men’s volleyball season opener. Opposite Alexandre Nsakanda finished with 11 kills on a .500 attack percentage in that victory, while Preseason All-American outside attacker Joel Schneidmiller added eight kills. Schneidmiller also had a match-high 13 kills in the win against Lewis last season.
