Setter Roque Nido guided the offense to a .442 attack percentage as NJIT swept No. 12 USC 25-20, 25-20, 25-17 on Saturday at the AVCA Showcase for the program’s first win against a nationally ranked team in three years.
All-EIVA opposite Alvaro Gimeno had both a match-high three aces and 11 kills while hitting .529 in the victory. In addition, outside attacker Jens Feldthus added 10 kills on a .438 attack percentage.
USC was held to a .044 attack percentage, including hitting negative-.227 in the final game.
NJIT out-blocked USC 17 to 3 with All-EIVA middle attacker Luca Berger leading all players with 11 blocks and Julian Meissner contributing seven kills.
