Quincy will face one of the top teams from the ConfCarolinas to open its 2020 season.
The MIVA team as part of recently unveiling its 2020 schedule announced it start the season with a non-conference home against Mount Olive on Jan. 10.
Mount Olive returns multiple all-conference starters after finishing last season in fourth place in the ConfCarolinas. Among those All-ConfCarolinas starters include middle attackers Eric Visgitis and Luke Visgitis, who both led conference with more than a .400 attack percentage.
Quincy concluded 2019 winless in the MIVA but in non-conference play went 1-1 against ConfCarolinas teams. In addition, outside attacker Omari Wheeler earned All-MIVA honors and was in the nation’s top 10 with a 3.84 kills per game average.
The match-up between the Hawks and Trojans also will feature two players who made the 2019 Off the Block All-World Team.
Mount Olive outside attacker Tobi Azeez as a freshman was seventh in the ConfCarolinas averaging 3.26 kills per game. The Second-Team All-ConfCarolinas selection had double-digit kills in 12 matches last season, including a season-high 26 kills in a comeback victory against North Greenville.
Quincy libero Noam Hannoun ended last season with a nation-best 2.95 digs per game average. The Off the Block Freshman All-American also had at least 20 digs in three MIVA matches.
This will be the second all-time match between the two programs. In the only previous meeting, Mount Olive swept Quincy in 2013.
The match versus Mount Olive will kick off a season opening five-match home stand for Quincy. The team as part of this home stand will play the defending IVA champions Lincoln Memorial on Jan. 11 and then play host to Missouri Baptist, Benedictine-Mesa and Campbellsville the following weekend in the River Crossing Tournament.
