The Battlers will have their fair share of non-conference matches against ConfCarolinas teams during the upcoming season.

Alderson Broaddus as part of recently releasing its 2020 schedule announced it will have home-and-home series with both Limestone and Erskine.

Despite having played both these teams in recent years, this will be the first time since 2017 that Alderson Broaddus will have a home-and-home series versus a ConfCarolinas team.

The Battlers under first-year head coach Chuck Shoemaker went winless in 2019 and were so injury plagued at various points of the season they had to cancel several matches. The team, though, was able to resume play towards the end of the season and as part of those matches lost to Limestone in three games.

Among the starters slated to return for the Battlers in 2020 includes outside attacker Cameron Snaden who had a team-high 3.25 kills per game average last season.

Alderson Broaddus will play host to Limestone in its season opener on Jan. 17. The two teams will conclude the series on March 6 at Limestone.

Limestone ended last season in fifth place in the ConfCarolinas and upset Mount Olive in the postseason to advance to the ConfCarolinas Tournament semifinals. All-ConfCarolinas outside attacker Jordan Barreto also returns for his senior year after finishing 2019 in the top 10 of the ConfCarolinas with both a 2.93 kills per game average and a 2.11 digs per game average.

Along with its series versus Limestone, Alderson Broaddus will play a home match against Erskine on Jan. 18 and will then travel to Erskine for the series finale on Feb. 21.

Erskine advanced to the ConfCarolinas Tournament quarterfinals in 2019. The Fleet return multiple starters for the upcoming season, including setter Francisco Pomar who spent the offseason playing for Puerto Rico at the FIVB U21 World Championship.

Erskine is 2-0 all-time against Alderson Broaddus with their last meeting occuring in 2018.

The Battlers to go along with these home-and-home series will play three more matches versus ConfCarolinas teams in 2020. Alderson Broaddus has scheduled road matches against North Greenville and King and will play a neutral site match versus Emmanuel.
