The preliminary roster is set of the United States ahead of the biggest youth international tournament.
USA Volleyball announced on Wednesday the 24-player training roster for the U.S. Boys’ Youth National Team that will compete at the FIVB U19 World Championship.
The U.S. roster will be reduced to 12 players before the World Championship that begins on Aug. 21 in Tunisia.
All 12 players who helped the United States qualify for the World Championship were named to the training roster. The United States earned its World Championship berth last year after winning the silver medal at the NORCECA U19 Continental Championship.
Pepperdine leads all teams with four recruits making the U.S. training roster. UCLA, UC Irvine, Stanford and the defending NCAA champions Long Beach State each also have multiple recruits making the team.
Along with these teams, Harvard, Lewis, Princeton and Purdue Fort Wayne all have one player on the roster.
The U.S. team will conduct its training session at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in July.
The United States is making its seventh consecutive appearance at the World Championship. The best finish for the United States in this bi-annual event is seventh place in 1995 and 2015.
