Coach Rock Perrotte now holds an accomplishment that not even his Hall of Fame predecessor Arnie Ball was able to achieve.
No. 15 Purdue Fort Wayne swept its in-state rival No. 13 Ball State 31-29, 25-22, 25-18 on Tuesday to complete the season series sweep and for the first time in program history win every regular-season set against the Cardinals.
Outside attacker Pelegrin Vargas in the victory finished with a match-high 19 kills on a .351 attack percentage. He also led the Mastodons with seven digs and added three blocks.
With this win, Purdue Fort Wayne remains in sole possession of third place in the MIVA. The team can clinch home court for the MIVA Tournament quarterfinals if it defeats Quincy and Lindenwood in its conference matches this weekend.
