Last night at Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, USC swept Princeton in impressive fashion.
The Trojans attacked at .508 clip, over .100 better than their previous season best (.395 vs Concordia-Irvine in Hawai’i). Also, USC outblocked Princeton, 10.5 to 1.5 – the 10.5 blocks matched the Trojans’ previous best.
Individually, the Trojans were without the services of senior outside attacker, Gianluca Grasso, so both senior outside attacker Jack Wyett and senior opposite Ryan Moss had to pick up the slack. The duo combined for 24 kills versus one attack error on 36 swings (.639 attack percentage).
On the other side of the net, the Tigers showed some flashes of success, highlighted by a couple of service runs. In the third game, Princeton went on a 5-0 run to cut the Trojans’ lead to 23-21; during that run, senior outside attacker Kendall Ratter had all three of his aces.
