What to know: Tonight is a battle for first place in the MPSF as No. 4/4 Pepperdine comes to Pauley Pavilion to take on No. 6/6 UCLA. Both teams are undefeated in conference play, and both are coming in off of wins – Pepperdine a 3-1 victory against Concordia-Irvine and UCLA a sweep against cross-town rival USC. Both are also bringing in momentum as Pepperdine is on a six match win streak and hasn’t lost a match since January 27 while UCLA has won their last two matches after rebounding from a disappointing 0-3 loss at No. 1/1 Long Beach two weeks ago. Players to watch on Pepperdine include outside attacker David Wieczorek, who averages 4.84 points/game and 0.51 aces/game and put up 21 points against Grand Canyon and 26.5 points against Concordia-Irvine. Opposite Michael Wexter who has been similarly impressive in recent matches, averages 4.1 points/game, putting up 23 points against Grand Canyon and 26 points against Concordia-Irvine. Opposite Brandon Rattray averages 4.44 points/game and 0.43 aces/game and has scored a total of 37 points in UCLA’s last two matches.
