When it matter the most late in the games, USC delivered at the Battle for the AVCA Spotlight.
USC overcame two-point deficits late in the second and third games to complete the sweep against Lincoln Memorial 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 to win the trophy match on Friday at the Off the Block Grow the Game Challenge presented by MotorMVB.
The Trojans trailed 20-18 in the second game before closing out the game on a 7-0 run to take a two-game lead. In addition, USC overcame a 23-21 third-game deficit and ended the match on a 4-0 run against Lincoln Memorial.
Opposite Ryan Moss in the victory led all players with 14 kills on a .571 attack percentage. Outside attacker Jack Wyett also added 10 kills as USC ended the match out-hitting Lincoln Memorial .295 to .208.
Lincoln Memorial opposite Evan Cory had a team-high 11 kills and was the only Railsplitter to have double-digit kills.
Middle attacker Pedro Carvalho, though, in the loss had a match-high eight blocks along with five kills on a .444 attack percentage.
