No. 1/1 Long Beach State continues their perfect season to start their 2019 campaign, as they have yet to drop a game while not playing a single match at home.
The Beach took care of business on Saturday night at No. 6/5 UCLA, on the strength of an efficient attack (.429) and out-blocking the Bruins (11.5 to 2.0). The first game went OT and featured 13 ties, before the Beach pulled it out, 29-27. UCLA outside attacker Austin Matautia struggled as he tallied six kills versus six attack errors before being subbed out. For the Beach, they were led by their senior outside attackers, TJ DeFalco (11 kills) and Louis Richard (8 kills without an attack error).
