The biggest non-conference win Barton program history was done in dramatic fashion.
Barton rallied from a two-game deficit to upset No. 15 Grand Canyon 27-29, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-13 at the Off the Block Grow the Game Challenge presented by MotorMVB on Friday in Lebanon, Tennessee.
This was the first time in program history that the Bulldogs defeated a nationally ranked team. It also became the first ConfCarolinas team to beat a nationally ranked team since the conference became eligible for a NCAA Tournament berth in 2014.
All-ConfCarolinas opposite Angelos Mandilaris led Barton with 19 kills and added nine digs. In addition, outside attacker Vasilis Mandilaris had 17 kills against the Antelopes.
Grand Canyon out-hit Barton.201 to .168 in a match that featured 41 combined blocks from both teams.
Middle attacker Caleb Blazer in the loss had a match-high 12 blocks, while middle attacker Justice Lord led Barton with 10 blocks.
Grand Canyon outside attacker Christian Janke also had a match-high 21 kills.
