What to know: CSUN and Loyola have played eight times in their brief series history, with each team winning four times. The program last met last year in Chicago, where the Ramblers won in four games. In that match, Loyola attacked at a blistering .436 clip, while Collin Mahan had 19 kills. For CSUN, they were led by the currently-graduated, Arvis Greene, who had 20 kills. Loyola is out to a fast start this season, with a record of 5-1. They are 1-1 against ranked opponents, having lost to No. 4 UC Irvine but defeated No. 5 Pepperdine, both in #CincoSets. This is also Loyola’s second road trip of the season, having defeated a pair of ConfCarolinas teams two weeks ago. On other side, CSUN is 5-2 on the year, including a 2-0 mark at home. They are 3-2 against ranked teams, having beaten No. 12 Concordia-Irvine, No. 2 UCLA, No. 13 Purdue Fort Wayne, while losing to No. 14 Grand Canyon, and No. 14 Ball State. Also of note is that of the six matches against Division I/II schools this year, four of them have gone #CincoSets. Statistically speaking, the Ramblers rank in the top five nationally in assists per game (12.68 per game), attack percentage (.363), kills per game (13.86 per game), and opponent hitting pct. (.174). Individually, Loyola is led by outside attacker Collin Mahan’s .571 aces per game and 4.17 points per game. Rambler middle attacker chips in with 1.33 blocks per game, and a .432 attack percentage. On the other side of the net, the Matadors are led freshman middle attacker, Daniel Wetter, who boasts a .933 blocks per game average and is attacking at a .465 clip.

What to know: UC Santa Barbara will look to snap a three-match losing streak against Lewis tonight in a battle between the No. 9 and No. 10 teams in the nation. The Flyers dealt the Gauchos a 3-1 loss in their last meeting behind Ryan Coenen’s 15 kills. Keenan Sanders erupted with a career-high 24 kills for UC Santa Barbara, but the Gauchos were limited to a .191 hitting percentage. The Gauchos looks to keep their win streak going after defeating No. 14 Ball State and No. 13 Purdue Fort Wayne on the road last week, while Lewis is coming off a four-game loss to Pepperdine. Thus far, Coenen leads the Flyers with a team best 3.47 kills per game and 66 kills total, with sophomore middle blocker Tyler Mitchem not far behind with 65 kills and 28 blocks. Corey Chavers is pacing the Gauchos offense with 102 kills (3.29 kills per game), followed by freshman Haotian Xia’s 48 kill total (2.82 kills per game). Xia recently logged a career-best 18 kills on .382 hitting in their five-game win over Ball State.
