What to know: Both teams have a Presho on their teams – UC Irvine’s assistant coach is Mark Presho, while his son is starting Stanford middle attacker, Kyler Presho. The two teams played a home-and-home series last year, where the Eaters swept both matches. Both teams come into the match undefeated, as both have defeated a pair of ranked opponents. Impressively, the Eaters have not played a single match at home yet this season, while the Cardinal have yet to leave the Farm. UC Irvine, as a team, ranks in the top five nationally in kills per game (12.95 per game), assists per game (12.16 per game), digs per game (9.74 per game), and attacks per game (27.95 per game). Individually, the offensive runs through outside attacker Joel Schneidmiller, who has won back to back conference player of the week honors. Schneidmiller ranks in the top ten in attacks per game (8th), kills per game (6th) and points per game (6th). In fact, Schneidmiller has at least 12 kills each of the Eaters’ five matches this year, including a 28 kill performance in the season opener at Loyola. On the other side of the net, a Stanford player has won conference player of the week honors in each of the first two weeks – opposite Jaylen Jasper (week 1 – offensive) and setter Paul Bischoff (week 2 – defensive).  The Cardinal rank in the top 12 in aces per game (2.38 per game), assists per game (11.38 per game), blocks per game (2.23 per game), attack percentage (.403), and kills per game (12.31 per game). There are two statistical categories that seem to be where this match will be decided. The one area of concern for the Eaters, not just for this match but all season long, will be if they can put enough service pressure on their opponent. UC Irvine ranks 28th in aces (out of 41 teams who have played so far). On the other side, the Cardinal rank 36th in the nation in terms of digs per game.
