No. 2/2 BYU (19-5, 9-1 MPSF) vs. No. 4/5 Pepperdine (14-6, 7-3 MPSF)

What to know: All No. 2/2 BYU needs is one more win to clinch home court advantage throughout the conference tournament and its fourth out-right MPSF regular season championship in the last six years. BYU begins its two-match regular season ending road trip against No. 4/5 Pepperdine with a two-match lead ahead of second-place No. 5/4 UCLA and Pepperdine in the MPSF standings. BYU stills has a multiple-match lead in the conference, despite suffering an upset loss to No. 13 Concorida-Irvine last week. All-American outside Brenden Sander in that five-game loss, though, had a season-high 24 kills on a .455 attack percentage. This was the second time in March that Sander had at least 20 kills In a match. The senior also is among the MPSF leaders and in the nation’s top 25 averaging 3.42 kills per game. All-conference outside attacker David Wieczorek leads Pepperdine and is fifth in the nation with a 4.03 kills per game average. Wieczorek has double-digit kills in all but one match that he has played in this season, including both a match-high 20 kills on a .351 attack percentage and four aces in a five-game road loss to BYU in March. Sander in that conference match helped the Cougars rally from a two-game deficit and had 17 kills while hitting .467. This conference match also will feature two of the top blockers in the nation. Pepperdine middle attacker Max Chamberlain is third in the nation with a 1.24 blocks per game average. BYU middle attacker Miki Jauhiainen after missing two matches in early March has a combined nine blocks in the last two matches that he started.
