There is no longer a tie for first place in the latest Off the Block/Springbak Division II National Coaches Poll that was released Tuesday.

Both Lewis and Concordia-Irvine split the eight first-place votes last week, but Lewis jumped ahead by two points in this week’s poll.

No. 1 Lewis edged Concordia-Irvine by gaining two more first-place votes. The Flyers ended the regular season by defeating Quincy and No. 5 Lindenwood on the road. Lewis earned the No. 4 seed in the MIVA tournament and will host the No. 5 seed Fort Wayne, this Saturday in a quarterfinal match.

No. 2 Concordia-Irvine dropped a spot in the poll even though they ended the regular season by defeating USC and NCAA Division III team UC Santa Cruz. The Eagles earned the No. 4 seed in the MPSF tournament and will host No. 5 Grand Canyon on Saturday in a quarterfinal match.

No. 3 McKendree ended its regular season with two MIVA conference road loses — at Ball State and at Fort Wayne. The Bearcats clinched the No. 6 seed in the MIVA tournament and will travel to No. 3 seed Ball State this Saturday for a quarterfinal match.

No. 4 UC San Diego was swept in a pair of matches versus Long Beach State this past weekend. The Tritons this weekend have a home-and-home series with CSUN to end the regular season.

No. 5 Lindenwood returned to the rankings for the first time in seven weeks. Lindenwood upset Loyola at home in four games last week before losing to Lewis. The Lions are the No. 7 seed in the MIVA tournament and will travel to No. 2 seed Loyola on Saturday for a quarterfinal match.

Both NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II men’s volleyball programs compete for the same national championship. The AVCA National Coaches Poll ranks the top 15 Division I-II men’s volleyball teams and is released each Monday during the regular season.

A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 20 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.
