OTB, Springbak release new college men’s volleyball national media poll

A five-match winning streak has catapulted Ball State into the national media poll for the first time this season.

Ball State following a non-conference road sweep against UC San Diego during the weekend jumped to No. 10 in the latest Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Media Poll that was released on Tuesday.

Along with Ball State, BYU made the biggest jump in the new rankings as it moved up two spots to No. 3 after beating Pepperdine and UCLA last week. UCLA with that loss, its fourth loss in its last five matches, dropped two spots to No. 5.

Seven of the top 10 teams did not move in the media poll, including No. 1 Long Beach State. The 49ers continued to receive every first-place vote and are on a nation-best 16-match winning streak.

The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Media Poll is the only rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in the National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.

A new national media poll is released every Tuesday during the regular season on Off the Block’s website.
