What to know: The rematch is on. No. 2/2 UCLA four days following a road loss to No. 1/1 Long Beach State will now conclude the home-and-home series on its home court. The 49ers held the Bruins to a season-low .191 attack percentage in the four-game non-conference victory, including forcing UCLA to hit in the negative during its 10-point second-game win. UCLA after the loss dropped from second to third in the nation with a .353 attack percentage, while Long Beach State continues to lead the country hitting .421. UCLA in the series finale will attempt to find a way to slow down All-American outside attacker TJ DeFalco. DeFalco finished with a match-high 17 kills on a .419 attack percentage against UCLA and defensively led all players with 12 digs and five blocks. The 2017 AVCA National Player of the Year earned four awards this week for his performance versus the Bruins — AVCA National Player of the Week, Off the Block National Outside Attacker of the Week, Big West Player of the Week and Big West Defensive Player of the Week. DeFalco also now has hit more than .400 in four consecutive matches and has double-digit kills in three of those matches. UCLA returns home where it is undefeated this season. Middle attacker Daenan Gyimah also continues to lead the nation with a .522 attack percentage, including having 13 kills while hitting .600 in the loss to the 49ers. In addition, the sophomore has multiple aces in five of his last six matches and is one of three Bruins in the nation’s top 10 for the most aces. Gyimah and setter Micah Ma’a are tied for second-best in the country with 27 aces, while outside attacker Dylan Missry has 23 aces. If UCLA can beat Long Beach State, it would be the Bruins’ fifth non-conference win against a top-five nationally ranked team. Long Beach State, the only undefeated team left in the nation, is off to its second-best start to a season in program history and is three wins away from tying the school record set in 1992.

What to know: A share of first place in the ConfCarolinas is on the line as Barton travels to Mount Olive in the first meeting between the two programs since the 2017 conference tournament finals. Both the Bulldogs and Trojans are undefeated in conference play, and they are a half-match behind King in the ConfCarolinas standings. In addition, Barton is on a 17-match conference winning streak dating back to last season, including a postseason sweep against Mount Olive to win the conference championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament. This match also will feature statistically two of the most productive offensive players in the nation. All-conference opposite Angelos Mandilaris in that conference tournament victory last season had 11 kills and was one of two Bulldogs to have double-digit kills against the Trojans. Mandilaris as a sophomore this season is in the nation’s top 10 with a 3.64 kills per game average and has at least 10 kills in all but one match. He also leads Barton with a combined 13 aces in the last five matches. Mount Olive opposite Robert Poole leads the conference and is sixth in the nation averaging 3.86 kills per game. The senior also is second in the country with a 0.62 aces per game average, including having a match-high four aces in a sweep versus Queens on Saturday. With that non-conference victory, Mount Olive is on a seven-match winning streak and has dropped one game during the streak.
