The largest non-conference tournament in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball during the upcoming season will have a fresh look.
Off the Block unveiled on Friday the tournament logo for the inaugural Off the Block Grow the Game Challenge presented by MotorMVB.
The logo incorporates the signature “g” of the Grow the Game Challenge, along with the same vibrant color scheme of the Off the Block logo to represent the fast-pace nature of college men’s volleyball. The local Nashville design company &Letters created this logo that will be used for all tournament branding.
The Grow the Game Challenge will take place Jan. 12-14 at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena and feature 13 non-conference matches during a three-day span. The 11-team tournament field includes Barton, Charleston, Erskine, Grand Canyon, Hawai’i, Limestone, Lincoln Memorial, Lindenwood, McKendree, North Greenville and Sacred Heart.
This event will be the first time in the city’s history that Nashville plays host to a NCAA men’s volleyball event.
A goal of the Grow the Game Challenge is to showcase college men’s volleyball to a part of the nation that has not been exposed to the sport. While there are no NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball teams in the greater Nashville area, the nearby school Cumberland University announced this fall that it would add a NAIA men’s volleyball program beginning in 2019.
Tickets for the Grow the Game Challenge will go on sale this weekend and additional purchasing information will be provided on the Off the Block website. In addition, if an individual or company would like to sponsor the tournament they can contact Off the Block editor and tournament director Vinnie Lopes at vinnielopes@gmail.com.
Off the Block is a national award winning website that launched in 2011 and is the nation’s leader in college men’s volleyball coverage.
