U.S. unveils final 12-player roster for U19 World Championship

The preliminary roster has been whittled following a two-week training camp and the United States has its team for the upcoming FIVB U19 World Championship.

USA Volleyball announced during the weekend the 12-player U.S. team comprised of high school players and incoming college freshmen that will compete at the international tournament in Bahrain.

“We are very excited about this team and its potential,” coach Sam Shweisky said in a statement. “We have assembled a great mix of guys who have international experience as well as some new guys are bring a nice balance of ball control and physicality. The team is really bonding at a very fast rate and getting excited to go overseas and represent USA Volleyball.”

Shweisky and his coaching staff selected the U.S. roster from a group of 23 players who participated in the team’s training camp in Lake Placid, New York.

Along with these schools, Charleston, Loyola and Ohio State each had an incoming recruit or commit selected to the team.

The top four teams in the five-team pool will advance to the Round of 16. The United States at No. 7 in the world rankings is the highest ranked team in its poll.
