The Buckeye Nation came out in near record-setting numbers for the NCAA Tournament semifinals.
The 4,834 people in attendance on Thursday at St. John Arena was the third largest crowd for the men’s volleyball Division I-II NCAA Tournament semifinals since 2000.
Ohio State playing on its home court swept Hawai’i, while BYU also swept Long Beach State to advance to the NCAA Tournament finals.
The semifinal crowd was less than 500 people shy from setting the NCAA Tournament semifinal attendance record since 2000. In addition, it more than doubled the semifinal crowd the last time Ohio State played host to the NCAA Tournament in 2007.
This is the second consecutive time more than 4,000 people have attended the NCAA Tournament semifinals when the host school is participating in the event. Loyola had 4,891 people in attendance for the semifianls when it played host and won the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
